Configure Kiwi Syslog Web Access - SSL Capability

Note: Assistance with configuring the below steps cannot be provided by the SolarWinds Support department as it is outside the realm of the Kiwi Syslog Server application

I.        Creating Self-signed certificate in Internet Information Services (IIS)

  1. Go to Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager  (In Administrative Tools).
  2. Click on the Server node in Connections window
Note: Computer Name is displayed as the server node name.

     3. Double click 'Server Certificates' in Home Window.
     4. Select 'Create Self-Signed Certificate' from 'Actions' window.
     5. Now Create Self-signed certificate window will open, enter the friendly name for the certificate.

         6. Click Ok.Now the requested certificate is created and displayed in the server certificates window.

    II.        Configuring Kiwi Syslog Web Access in Internet Information Services with SSL
    1. Go to Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager (In Administrative Tools).
    2. Expand the Server Node

    Note: Computer Name is displayed as the server node name.

         3. Choose 'Add Web site' by right clicking the Sites node. Now the Add Website dialog will appear.

              4. Key-in the following inputs.

        • Enter User friendly name in the Site name field.
        • Select the physical path of the Website (usually Kiwi Syslog is installed in  \SolarWinds\Kiwi Syslog Web Access\html).
        • Choose the binding type as https.
        • Select the self-signed certificate created by you from the SSL Certificate drop down.
        • And then click Ok.

              5.  Application Pool setting
        • Click the Application Pools under the Server Node from Connections window.
        • Click the Application Pool same name as the newly added Website.
        • Click the Advanced Settings... option under Edit Application Pool in Actions window.
        • Set the following properties in the Advanced Settings window.
        • Enable 32-Bit Applications to "True".
        • Managed Pipeline Mode to "Classic".
        • Identity to "LocalSystem".
        • Click OK.

              6. Click the newly created site under Sites node in Connections window.
              7. Restart the website by clicking the Restart option under Manage Web Site in Actions window.
              8. Browse the website from the browser. Now the browser connects to the website through https.

        Note: Navigation to Internet Information Service Manager will vary based on the installed Operating System.
