Version 10.7

  • Improved Toolset/Orion integration and security: communication between Orion and Toolset is now secure via SSL and Toolset now handles SNMPv3 credential transfers.
  • Improved exporting: now you can export chart data, and table and chart data export allows re-ordering and sorting. Additionally, MIB Walk now exports to Net-SNMP format.
  • Netflow Realtime tool now supports JFlow, SFlow, Netflow 9, and AppFlow.
  • Many fixes and functionality tweaks.

    Import Devices from Databases
    You can now import devices from databases into the Workspace Studio. Supported databases include SolarWinds Toolset NPM, SolarWinds Orion, SolarWinds Sonar, SolarWinds Classic Credential Manager, SQL databases, and Access databases.
    Cross-Browser Orion/Toolset Integration
    Orion/Toolset integration is now supported on Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. This support also paves the way for easier integration with other browsers should Orion choose to expand its browser support in the future.
    Speed Enhancements for the Switch Port Mapper Gadget in Workspace Studio
    Switch Port Mapper performance loss in 10.5 has been corrected.
    Speed Enhancements for the Route Viewer Gadget in Workspace Studio
    Performance has been enhanced significantly in the Route Viewer gadget.
    FIPS Compatible
    SolarWinds Toolset is now compatible with FIPS.
    Configurable TFTP Service Port
    You can now use a different service port for the TFTP Server.

    New Workspace Studio Gadgets
    Workspace Studio includes the following new gadgets:
    • MIB Browser - The MIB Browser gadget is used to browse through and view Management Information Base (MIB) values found on your network devices via SNMP.
    • Route Viewer - The Route View gadget collects Route Table data from multiple network devices and then displays the tables together in one view.
    • Password Generator - The Password Generator gadget is used to create passwords for your network devices.
    • WMI Browser - The WMI Browser gadget is used to monitor various WMI statistics on your Windows Servers.
    Added Contains Filter to Workspace Studio Device Tree
    You can now filter your device tree items using the Contains filter in Workspace Studio.
    Added Tab Type Shortcut to Workspace Studio Toolbar.
    You can now add tab shortcuts to the Workspace Studio Toolbar.
    SCP/SFTP Server
    Added support for SCPv1 to the SCP/SFTP Server.

    Version 10.4

    New Workspace Studio Gadgets
    Workspace Studio includes the following new gadgets:
    • Cisco ACL Editor - The Cisco ACL Editor gadget is used to view and modify your Cisco Access Control Lists (ACL) on your network devices.
    • Cisco Config Compare - The Cisco Config Compare gadget is used to compare startup versus running configurations on your Cisco network devices.
    • Password Generator [SolarWinds Labs - Experimental] - The Password Generator gadget is used to create passwords for your network devices.
    • WMI Browser [SolarWinds Labs - Experimental] - The WMI Browser gadget is used to monitor various WMI statistics on your Windows Servers.
    SCP / SFTP Server
    Toolset now includes an SCP / SFTP server that enables you to transfer files securely across your network using either the Secure File Copy (SCP) protocol or the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). The new SolarWinds SCP / SFTP Server is fully customizable, allowing you to configure the server to support the needs of your network.
    Orion / Toolset Integration
    Added access to Workspace Studio gadgets from the Toolset integration menu on your Orion Web Console.
    Advanced Device Grouping and Filtering in Workspace Studio
    Added advanced grouping and filtering to the device manager within Workspace Studio.
    New Workspace Studio Devices Details Panel
    Added a new Device Details panel in Workspace Studio that allows you to make quick changes to one or more devices without having to open another dialog.
    WakeOnLan Command Line 'Exit' Command Added
    Added command line parameter "-exit" to WakeOnLan used to close the application after a packet is sent.

    TFTP Server enhancements
    TFTP Server now has the ability to bind to multiple subnets. Instead of binding to specific IP addresses, you can now bind to subnets using CIDR notation. In addition, you can bind the TFTP server to the first valid subnet in a list of subnets.
    SMNPv3 support in classic MIB Viewer and MIB Walk
    The MIB Viewer and MIB Walk now communicate with your SNMPv3 devices.
    Standard Edition licenses are now available
    With the introduction of Toolset 10.1, SolarWinds has made Standard Toolset available. For more information, see Standard Toolset.
    Bookmark menus in MIB Browser
    Bookmark menus have been added to MIB Browser allowing you to save your most frequently accessed MIBs.
    Workspace Studio
    Workspace Studio is an integrated platform used to perform realtime monitoring and troubleshooting that includes device, credential, and layout management functions. The following features and improvements are included in the new version of Workspace Studio:
    • MAC Finder Gadget
    • IP Network Browser Gadget
    • CDP / LLDP Neighbor Map Gadget
    • Interfaces are now visible in the device list
    • Interfaces can be enabled and disabled from the device list and from some gadgets
    • The F11 key can now be used to quickly initiate full-screen view
    • Tabs can be set to automatically rotate for a NOC display
    • Gadgets can be resized by dragging the bottom right corner
    • Gadgets can be maximized to the entire viewable area by double clicking on the header
    • Gadgets can be found in tabs by right-clicking on the tab header
    • Folders and tabs can now be added to the toolbar
    • Trunk ports can be excluded from the Switch Port Mapper and MAC Finder Gadgets
    • You can now export data collected by any table gadget in Workspace Studio
    • You can now add devices discovered using discovery gadgets to Workspace Studio
    • Switch Port Mapper now has extended VLAN support
    • HP ProCurve Support added to CPU and Memory gadgets
    • Added "Keep this window open" functionality to Add Device window
    • Removed C1Sizer.ocx from the installer as it is known security vulnerability.
    • Added paste functionality to the Telnet/SSH gadget

      • Refined interface discovery
        • You no longer have to list all the interfaces on a device to create gauges, charts, graphs, or tables.
        • You can now select more than one interface for a given gauge.
      • Improved Switch Port Mapper
        • Added VLAN port membership for Cisco and other devices (VLANs assigned to the port, and the VLAN the MAC was found on).
        • Includes an option to show ports with MACs only.
      • Includes a Telnet/SSH Client
      • Integrated Credential Management
      • Ability to monitor individual CPUs or Aggregate CPUs from one device
      • Ability to monitor different memory types (Pool, application, process)

      Version 9.2

      Toolset NPM Database Enhancements
      The Network Performance Monitor tool now warns you when your database reaches 1.3GB, provides another warning at 1.7GB, and then stops saving polled data to the database at 1.9GB. This feature gives you numerous reminders to compact your database and avoids database corruption at the 2GB limit.
      Toolset Launchpad Enhancements
      Providing the ability to independently edit the shared credentials database, create your own tool groups, search the community forum for help or advice, and access the Administrator Guide, the community forum (thwack.com), check your Toolset version, and access solarwinds.com.
      NetFlow Configurator
      Provides a simple, wizard-driven Cisco configuration modification tool focused solely on enabling NetFlow version 5 on your devices. NetFlow Configurator safely and securely opens the door to NetFlow data without the complications of multiple configuration updates and edits.
      Bandwidth Gauges
      Offer 64-bit counter support and SNMPv3 authentication support.
      IP Address Management
      Allows you to disable the automatic scanning of your subnets.
      SNMPv3 Support
      Added to the following tools:
      TFTP Server
      Regained the speed previously experienced with the product while retaining the larger download and upload capabilities of version 9.


      Version 9.1

      NetFlow Configurator
      Provides a simple, wizard-driven Cisco configuration modification tool focused solely on enabling NetFlow on your devices. NetFlow Configurator safely and securely opens the door to NetFlow data without the complications of multiple configuration updates and edits.
      Toolset Launchpad Enhancements
      Providing the ability to independently edit the shared credentials database, create your own tool groups, and access the Administrator Guide, the customer portal (thwack.com), check your Toolset version, and access solarwinds.com.
      Bandwidth Gauges
      Offer 64-bit counter support and SNMPv3 authentication support.
      IP Address Management
      Allows you to disable the automatic scanning of your subnets.

      Version 9.0

      NetFlow Realtime
      Provides the first true real-time NetFlow analysis tool. NetFlow Realtime is a perfect complement to the suite of tools in Engineer’s Toolset, enabling network engineers to quickly and easily troubleshoot network problems.
      Intuitive, Customizable Launchpad
      Allows easy access to all Toolset applications. The Launchpad is configurable to allow an engineer to group favorite tools and provides a “top 5” list of most used tools. Simply click a tool icon to see a description of usage scenario. The Launchpad also provides new features such as “Host network info” to easily display the network information (IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, etc.) of the client machine.
      Enhanced TFTP Server
      Runs as a service (background process), rather than only as a foreground process. The new TFTP Server includes support for option negotiation (blocksize, tsize, timeout) which enables file transfers larger than 32MB. SolarWinds TFTP Server continues in its popularity among network engineers and has now been downloaded more than 650,000 times.
      Shared Credentials Database
      Enables support in most popular tools for storing individual SNMP credentials and associated IP address/hostnames in a database that can be shared among tools.
      SNMP v3 Support
      Enables support in popular tools for connecting to SNMP v3 enabled devices to allow strong authentication necessary to meet security and regulatory compliance requirements.
      Windows Vista Support
      Allows tools to be run on Vista platform, including User Access Control (UAC) support.
