Toolset’s Syslog Server tool Hotfix

This Hotfix addresses several issues in SolarWind's Syslog Server tool:

When sending a syslog message every second message may show the following error:

Cannot send Syslog message. Invalid Argument.

The last octet of an address may be partially or fully truncated. For example, it may display 10.11.12 instead of 10.11.12.13.

Note: This hotfix is for Windows XP and later.

This issue was introduced because of a Microsoft security update. For more information, see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957924. This update left the mswinsck.ocx control file working incorrectly. Microsoft has indicated that a fix will not be available for this issue.

This hotfix allows you to use an older version of the mswinsck.ocx control file with our Syslog Server while still allowing all other programs on your system to use the newer mswinsck.ocx control.

To install this hotfix:

Locate the zip file for this Hotfix in your customer portal.
Extract the contents of the zip file into your Toolset folder. The included manifest file points the Syslog-Server exe to the older mswinsck.ocx.
