Nodes discovered in integrated Orion/NCM installation do not show up in 'Discovered Links' (User Tracking) Reports

Explanation

If NCM 6.0 is integrated into Orion 10.0, the software makes available a Topology Report called 'Discovered Links'. This report shows the devices to which your switches and routers are connected, as recorded in the database by the Network Discovery Engine during its latest iteration of discovery.

Prerequisites for viewing 'Discovered Links' data for Orion nodes are:

  1. The nodes were discovered with the Network Discovery Engine.

If you import nodes into Orion from another source, such as another SQL Server database, you must run the Network Discovery engine on that set of nodes in order to capture current switch port mapping information.

  2. The relevant ports are being monitored in Orion.

Essentially, since every network object monitored in Orion requires a license, you must have licenses to cover all the interfaces for which you want to see topology reports, and those interfaces must be specifically set up to be monitored in Orion.

Version

The 'Discovered Links' report is available only in the Orion Web Console if you have NCM 6.0 installed, and its integration moduled installed, on your Orion server.
