Repairing or Changing NCM Installation

How do I repair or change my NCM installation? (In Windows 2008 R2: I encounter Error 1721 when I attempt to repair my NCM installation. I encounter an error that "MDAC2.7 Sp1 cannot be installed on this machine" when I attempt to change my installation.)

Resolution:

Both errors are due to UAC in Windows 2008 R2 as related to how the Microsoft Installer handles NCM software components.

To repair or change NCM, uninstall NCM and then manually reinstall it, as follows:

Open Programs and Features (Control Panel > Programs and Features).
Click Solarwinds Orion Network Configuration Manager v6.0.
Click Uninstall and then Yes.
Wait until the software module disappears from the list.
Navigate to your download location and launch your NCM executable (.exe).
Review the Welcome text, and then click Next.
Accept the license agreement displayed on the License Agreement window, and then click Next.
Type the user name and organization on the Customer Information window.
Decide if you want to limit Orion Network Configuration Manager to the currently logged in account, select accordingly, and then click Next.
Click Typical, and then click Next. If you need to change the installation path, click Custom.
Click OK when your system informs you that it located your existing license key and that your license is installed.
Click Finish.
