Why is the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS) failing to upgrade?
Due to a setting in the SolarWinds Information Service (SWIS) installer, SWIS may fail to upgrade as required for all Orion NPM users. The following procedure addresses this issue.
To correct a SolarWinds Information Service upgrade failure:
- Log in to the server hosting your installation of Orion NPM.
Note: If at all possible, log in as the user who originally installed Orion NPM version 9.5.
- Upgrade to Orion NPM version 9.5.1.
Notes:
Upgrading to Orion NPM 9.5.1 should fully address a SWIS upgrade failure. If, however, SWIS has not upgraded after an upgrade to Orion NPM 9.5.1
- Log in to the server hosting your installation of Orion NPM.
Note: If at all possible, log in as the user who originally installed Orion NPM version 9.5.
- Click Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs.
- Confirm whether or not
SolarWinds Information Service v2.0 is listed.
- If
SolarWinds Information Service v2.0 is not listed, complete the following steps:
- If
SolarWinds Information Service v2.1 is listed, uninstall it before proceeding.
- Open the
SolarWinds\Installers folder.
Note: The default location is volume:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Installers.
- Execute
InformationService.msi.
- Click Next on the SolarWinds Information Service v2.0 Setup Welcome window.
- Check I accept the terms in the License Agreement, and then click Next.
- Click an appropriate setup type.
Note: For most users, SolarWinds recommends the Typical setup type.
- Click Install.
- Click Finish when the setup wizard completes.
